Thank you so much for stopping by. This is my very first post and I hope you like it 🙂 I have chosen to write about one of my all time favourite crochet designers, Kate Eastwood from @justpootling.
I recently bought her first book called Crocheted Wreaths & Garlands.
When it arrived, I couldn’t wait to delve into the pages and it certainly didn’t disappoint.
This book is certainly a page turner and one which I most certainly will return to.
What I like most about it is that it is divided into seasons allowing you to dip in and out, just in case you wanted to get ahead and start anything before the actual season is here and then there is a whole section dedicated to projects for all year round.
Kate recommended Rowan Cotton Glace (100% cotton) but, as I have quite a bit of Scheepjes Catona in my stash, which was kindly gifted to me when I attended a Crochet Sanctuary weekend (that I will certainly blog about when I attend one later on in the Year), I thought I would just use what I had and see what happened!
I went ahead and picked my first design “greetings heart” and set about making the flowers. There is a skill rating throughout the book and this particular design is aimed at a beginner.
They don’t take too long to crochet and are really satisfying to hook up. I blocked them and then set about with my glue gun and spent a relaxing hour arranging them on my heart garland.. Does anyone else get carried away when crafting…
My version is slightly different to Kate’s but as she writes in her introduction “Remember there are no rules with wreaths and garlands“. How right she was!
I hope you liked reading my very first post…. I have thought about starting a blog for a long time now but couldn’t pluck up the courage to do so, as there are so many lovely blogs out there and I didn’t think I would have enough to write about.
What I have decided to do is start one anyway, as over time, I should gain in confidence, creating content might become a little easier and I will be able to find my own style of writing
