A little crochet mouse

I was scrolling through Instagram the other day, as I tend to do a zillion times a day and I came across a beautiful little mouse on Heather’s insta page @kcaco.uk.

The pattern can be found inside Issue 37 of Crochet Now magazine. I love this magazine, as it has so many beautiful patterns in and really good articles. It’s definitely one to read when you have a cup of tea and can just sit in peace and indulge 🙂

I picked some scheepjes colours that I already had in my stash and set about making the head first.

I found Heather’s pattern easy to follow and before I knew it, I was on the legs and body.

Once I was onto the skirt part, I realised that I had to pick up the front loops only around the body (you can see the front loops in the picture above).

I found this quite fiddly to do, to be honest, only because I’ve never done this before but if you persevere and make sure you have the correct number of stitches, once you’ve picked them up (I didn’t first time round and had to frog it back), the rest of the skirt is fairly straightforward and I was really happy with myself once I’d managed it.

I really enjoyed making all the little pieces. Usually, once I’ve made body parts, I seem to have this “block” where I can’t bring myself to start sewing them together, just in case it doesn’t “look right” but I was so excited to see what she would looked like, I just started sewing everything together.

The thing is when sewing amigurumi pieces together, I think the more you do it, the more satisfied you become and it makes you feel confident for the next time. Even when I’d finished, I was still being critical of how I had sewn certain pieces together, but at the end of the day to have the satisfaction of making anything and actually completing it (this is a big thing for me, as I have soooo many wips), should be enough to spur you onto the next project, don’t you think?.. So without further ado, here she is ……..

Angelica the little mouse in all her glory.

Thank you Heather @kcaco.uk for such a lovely pattern.
